CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR SIZING TOOL


Description

The preliminary centrifugal compressor sizing tool QHmap (Windows Desktop) is integrated with/available from CTrend package. The sizing program allows the user to plot a compressor operating case on a Q-H diagram with generic but customizable performance curves. The design point can be moved to provide a better overall fit for multiple operating points scenario. Up to 3 design maps can be displayed on the QH diagram which can be useful to evaluate stage envelope overlap, study rebundle (re-wheel) options, etc.



Sizing Features

The tool has an iterative solver allowing to perform a preliminary sizing of centrifugal compressor (i.e., estimate no. of wheels/stages, diameter / frame size and expected polytropic efficiencies) with user's option available to iterate on diameter or on speed. A basic knowledge/experience of realistic operating speeds (i.e. achievable) vs. framesize should be good enough to define a preliminary size for a defined process duty.


There are handy features available with the tool such as generating iso-plots on Q-H operating map (power, discharge temperature, efficiency) and the option to calculate anti-surge valve cv coefficient.
